Not Bava's last film.

Shock is a really fine horror film, done in traditional Bava style, but it isn't his final film. why is it always listed that way? From what i know his last film was "Rabid Dogs."

According to the commentary, "Rabid Dogs" was the very last film Bava made before his death. In fact it wasn't even completed, and his son had to film an extra scene for his father to wrap things up. Yes, the film was lying in a vault for years before they dug it out and completed it. "Rabid Dogs" is a crazy film though, and looks like nothing Mario Bava created before it.

You are probably right then. I guess the confusion is the fact that "Rabid Dogs" was the last one to be released. You mentioned it was your second favorite Bava film; what is your favorite? My favorite film from him is definitely "Lisa & the Devil," followed closely by "The Whip & the Body." Both films are beautiful, Gothic masterpieces, IMO..
