Has anyone yet watched the Blue Underground DVD?

1. Is it an improvement on the Anchor Bay release, or merely a port of same?

Please only reply if you have actually watched the new release. No one seems to know for a fact whether improvements were made, and the only way to find out is to be EMPIRICAL and actually watch the Blue Underground version. My video store won't have them for rental for a couple of days. Thank you.

I love this movie!!

Thank you very much for replying. I have the BU version of "Autopsy."

No doubling up on "Autopsy" for me, thank you. Didn't buy it the first time around, for some reason.

This spring, I will have tripled up on "Kill Baby Kill," though. Annoying.

The first american release of "Kill Baby Kill" was a sad, pan-and-scan affair that inhabited a box alongside excellent versions of "Blood and Black Lace" and "the Whip and the Body" by VCI. Last year, an anamorphic, widescreen Austrailian import of a little higher quality was released as a region-free DVD.

For years, Image's Mario Bava collection was supposed to release a superior version with Tim Lucas commentary track as part of their "Mario Bava Collection." Something happened with that franchise, and the bulk of those films will be re-issued in boxed set form by Anchor Bay soon, including some widescreen version of "Kill Baby Kill."

However, the Tim Lucas track is supposed to appear on a Dark Sky Films DVD, rumored to feature a superior transfer and be simply gravid with extras. This version was supposed to be released on March 27, but has since been moved to an indefinite time.

So is Blue Underground worth getting? How's the quality? Does it have English and Italian dialogue?

reply

I have the Blue Underground DVD. I don't know what the Anchor Bay DVD was like so I can't really compare the two as I didn't even know there were two DVDs. The visual and audio were pretty good to me. Just the same as any other DVD. And if you go to the main menu, you can choose whether you want to watch it in English, Italian, or French. As for extra features, it has trailers, TV spots, Talent Bios, and an interview with Lambert Bava.
