Annabelle ripped off a scene from this movie

The scene where the boy runs towards the mother and then transforms into the older man. Annabelle did a jumpier version of that with the door closing and stuff but obviously it was a rip-off.

Easily the best and scariest scene in Shock, ripped off for a generic money-making piece of trash like Annabelle.

I'm sure they'd say it was a "homage" rather than "hey, let's rip-off a scary bit from an Italian horror movie because our target audience is young and ignorant".

Due to the lack of moderators, trolls can ruin the IMDB message boards. Don't feed them.

Yes, and 95% of the people who go to theaters to see something like Annabelle have probably never even heard of Mario Bava let alone the movie Shock so probably think it was very original and innovative.

Sadly anything newer than like 1989 is not very original or innovative.

Lamberto Bava (who co-directed "Shock" with father Mario Bava) explicitly calls the scene in "Annabelle" an homage. I think it's fair to call it that, rather than rip-off. Bava does this in a 2021 interview for Arrow Films that is on the blu-ray release of "Shock".

That was my favorite part. It made me jump just a little. I wasn't expecting it at all.

I do love everything about this film, especially it’s great cast, Bava’s story telling style and the great cinematography. But yes, the way the scene is filmed with the young boy going out of frame and a split second later the father appearing is quite unnerving. The shot was set up perfectly. I haven’t seen Annabelle, but I’m curious if cgi was used in their comparable scene.

I recommend this film to anyone who has not seen it before. 8/10
