Is much better than it has any right to be

I am a big fan of the Airport film series and Airport 77 is my favorite. I know Academy Award winning Airport is the flagship of the series and is very good but I still like this best.

Airport 1975 was very good visually (the in air transfer) but besides Charlton Heston, Karen Black and George Kennedy it had a Hollywood Squares type feel cast wise. The Concorde- Airport 79 was a disaster.

This film has an excellent cast with quite a few Academy Award winners. The disaster and rescue were very good visually and still hold up well. And that was before CGI. I love Lee Grant in this and she does not have a lot a screen time as do almost all the cast. If it had not been for the caliber of cast I think it would have been a completely different movie. The roles were not all substantial but with the great cast it was a much better film than one would have expected.

I have always had a fondness to this Airport Movie. Maybe because it brings back great memories of seeing it with my Sister when I was a Kid. But I have always felt this had one of the better stories of the series other then the First one.

Also as I am watching the news reports of the missing 777 ( this is a current news story on March 14, 2014... In case you are reading this some time Far Far into the Future ) I am reminded of this movie.

There is more Gravy about you then the Grave. Scrooge.

I thought of Airport 77 too after this incident. The first few days it went missing I thought they would even find it like they did the plane in the film.
