David Wood's Haircut!!!! Grrr

I know it's a small point, and I know this film is now over 40 years old and production values were not what they are now.

But.

They spent a fortune to ensure that they had the aeroplanes looking (as much as they could) like 1917 WW1 models. Also they procured the right uniforms , vehicles props etc...there is very little to fault there.

But every time I watch it I'm struck by the fact that David Wood (Who played Lt. Thompson the pilot who was "always prepared" and invented the grenade-bomb device and died jumping out of his burning plane) has a haircut that makes him look like a provincial solicitor who just stepped out of a 1976 High Street... It's a small detail of course but it jars me everytime I watched it.

Surely make-up could have afforded a jar of Brylcreme to slick back his hair to look just a little bit like someone serving in WW1?

Other actors still look a bit contemporary but at least some effort was made. To me it's as bad as Sophia Loren wearing full Hollywood glamour make-up whilst playing a medieval nun!!!

Agreed. Most movies from the 50s, 60's and 80's get everything right but the hair.
