How did Francisco Sprain his Ankle ?

toward the end (while Virginia and Francisco are in the room alone finally)(Emilio Rospini?)on his hospital bed starts talking about the murder and Francisco it SOUNDS like he says "but when i answered- he jumped out of the window... out of the window and sprained his ankle." How does that explain why francisco is currently limping?

Also... How did Luka and Virginia track down the original photo of the woman with the horse?

There are so many weird choices with editing in this movie but I love it.
