yeah, like Mr. Roper was such a "stud" himself! Mr. Roper should have considered himself lucky that he had such a sweet loyal wife by his side for all these years because he could have ended up a lonely old man like poor Mr. Furley! At least Mr. Furley would have appreciated Mrs. Roper!

Right on, topaz! Even though she often nagged him she at least she stayed with him all those years. She could have left him and never came back. She did walk out on him a few times and he was miserable, bothering the "kids" and all.

Thanks SmokyBrownEyes! I agree, Mrs. Roper, could have left & never came back, but she always did. As a child, I actually thought that her real hair, but later learned she wore a wig for the show! lol!

That is one thing that always bugged me in movies/shows. A character complains that nobody "wants" them. Or they can't get a date. But you always see them in something frumpy (for the females) or looking like they raided their grandfather's closet (for the males). Or they refuse to do anything with their hair, or anything at all to look attractive.

I am not saying looks are everything, but face it. Most people are attracted first to looks, other things later.

I think that was all an act though. I remember at least a couple of times during the show that he was in the dumps would admit how lonely and undermined he actually was.

That attitude is common with a lot of older single women in general. They don't not care or put any care into their appearance but claim it's society 's fault for being too superficial...and the reason they are single....by "choice",supposedly.

I've see that with a lot of younger people too. A girl I worked with had her hair man-short (and not even a feminine style), wore no make-up, sweatshirts, bulky pants. And complained about not getting a date. And even sneered at any female (including me) who put any effort at all into appearance.

She also griped that she got called "sir" a lot. Could it be how she looked? 

Good one. Just to clarify because I don't want anyone thinking I'm picking on women. I know guys who could have a better dating life if they just just shave,get a haircut and put a little iron into their clothes.
A lot of guys think they need a six pack, wear a certain brand of clothing,etc.

That's why I said in another post, some guys look like they raid their grandfather's closet. I actually worked with a guy who admitted that when his grandfather died, he took all his clothes. He said he saw no reason to buy new clothes when all his grandfather's fit him. And cut his own hair, and you could tell. And (at 23) only had a moped, he didn't want the "hassle" of a car.

Sure, he was a "catch", right?
