Seasons 7 + 8: should I or shouldn't I?
Three's Company holds an esteemed place in my heart as something which defined my childhood. I can remember seeing the very first episode in early '77 and stayed with it through every season and its eventual morph into the unmemorable Three's A Crowd. A couple of years ago I started collecting it season by season. It's rare to find something i used to laugh out loud to when I was 8 have the same effect on me as an adult. However, by season 6 I was finding I was enjoying it far less than the previous seasons and I stopped collecting them. True, season 6 had the great showcase for John Ritter, "Up in the Air", but I still felt it was no longer the same show. Priscilla Barnes has admitted how unhappy she was working on it, and I think that vibe comes through. To diehard fans--are seasons 7 and 8 worth getting? I haven't seen those episodes since I was young and remember little about them now. But if the show continues to peter out as started on season 5 due to the backstage turmoil, I'm not sure I would even enjoy those episodes.
