Expensive Lunch Date

Does anyone remember the one with the struggling writer's expensive lunch date? Not an absolute classic and no killer twist to speak of, but a really interesting one and one most people can relate to as having been in that situation.

Anyone remember the name of the episode or any of the actors?

I seem to remember some distinctly dodgy American accents in this one.

It's called The Luncheon from season 6.

The main roles are played by Bosco Hogan and Gayle Hunnicutt.

The wonderfully-named Bosco Hogan is also one of the leads in "Vengenace is Mine Inc" along with a ridiculously young looking Julian Fellowes!!

"In your face, space-coyote!!"

reply

i liked the scene which was essentially a montage of a man doing maths

reply

I didn't buy it that a wealthy woman who could eat there for free would ask a man out to lunch there because she loved his book so much and then essentially expect him to pay. He is a struggling writer with a child on the way. What sort of ridiculous scenario is that?

And she had the front to look offended when he said that his wife wouldn't mind because it is a business lunch!

reply

"Vengeance is Mine Inc" - one of my favourites!

Agreed, I'm sure I've been in similar situations where I've been hoping to impress or try to curry favour with someone to find that to find things have changed in the mean time and I'm wasting my time.

Saying that, with someone that famous and the internet being so available and informative today, I'm sure that he would have been more privy to such information and not wasted his time and cash.

I did not find the plot convincing - very disappointing.

Just watched this episode and I found the customer service in the restaurant terrible. They did not stop disturbing the patrons whilst they were deep in conversation.
