Close Circuit TV?

In one episode, Kessler is considering using close-circuit TV for surveillance of Brussels. Did such technology exist in the 1940s, and did the Nazis ever in fact make use of it?

Was that the ep were Kessler mentions that TV was invented by a German? And the reply was: No, actually by the British.

I only saw this series in the '70s on Belgian television on Sunday evening and dreaded the final credits. It was the signal for my mother to send me to bed...

Good show and had a sequel of sorts in "Kessler", but I never saw that. You know if it was any good?

I found this on WikiPedia:
The first CCTV system was installed at Test Stand VII in Peenemünde Germany in 1942, for observing the launch of V2-rockets.

The technology did exist, so one can understand it being included in what was a fairly accurate drama.
