Lewis as Bond

How amazing would it have been if lewis got the role? I keep trying to picture his style of Bond. Would he be suave, moody, light hearted, thugish?

What do you guys think he would have been like?

It would have been awesome. The one liners would have had me in stitches. He looks the part. In the episode The Untouchables you get to see Bodie in a tuxedo. Very suave.

I know I really wish he could have made it in the big league he is a quality actor and seems to be a genuinly funny guy. I guess the untouchables is as close as well ever get. I think that ep even has a line from OHMSS.

I agree that Lewis is a good actor, but personally I don't think he was as good as Martin Shaw or Gordon Jackson. Would have been a scream if he was cast as Bond though.

Lewis is much better. Martins a git lol

I have a comment of Lewis Collins about the »Bond Issue«: It is part of the Making of from one of his War Movies – Kommando Leopard or Geheimcode Wildgaense – directed by Antonio Margeriti (is that spelled right?): He acts as if he was totally cool about this and never heard of the topic.

Lewis Collins was originally considered to play Bond in the early eighties, whilst Roger Moore was Bond.

Well, maybe the more mediocre war movies he made broke his neck, when he was supposed to be become Bond... Many think he shouldn´t have made these movies.

I'm sure i read somewhere that Lewis said that he went in an interview with cubby brocoli and as soon as he went in he knew he had failed becuase he was nervous and when he gets nervous he gets very defencive and thus he failed it though himself

Well, he should have brought his machine gun from »Kommando Leopard« to Brocoli´s house! Germans loved him in these roles!

I think he would have been great in the role during the early 80's; similar to Connery.

Just saw an episode of The Professionals on Men & Motors, and there was a scene with Lewis (once a contender for Bond) and the previous Bond, Pierce Brosnan, in a surveilance van. What a coincident! Ruby Wax was also briefly in the episode, but I can't stand her.
