Dropped in just to say that I enjoyed this old tv series ...

Very much.
Started watching it only last Saturday and found the drama quite absorbing.

I can see this board isn't active anymore but I just want to have my appreciation for this movie on record. I'm going to look for more recent tv shows of Robin Ellis just to see how he is now that he's almost nearing 70.

I have this on favourites - hence the speedy reply!

Is this the first time of watching, Torian? I ask because I was fairly newly married when I saw this back in the seventies. It caused a storm! Robin Ellis became an instant "heart-throb", and the streets emptied when it was on (no recording back then)!

The production values were very "seventies" and studio-bound, but I think the series has worn well. Do you agree? It was such a fabulous story, and Demelza was such a fiesty and likeable heroine.

Thanks very much for your quick post regarding mine.

Yes, my first time to watch this tv series and only on YouTube. I was actually looking for some movies of Ioan Gruffudd after seeing him in Amazing Grace in a dvd I bought last May, recalled last Friday that I haven't seen any other movies of his, I took a look at his filmography here in imdb and was struck by what I think a unique title for a movie -- Poldark -- but there's only a clip of it on YT with Gruffudd, however I saw other thumbnails of the older version that turned out an uploaded entire series. I was truly grateful for it because I still am enjoying it very much since last Saturday. I can only watch it late evenings when I have a few free hours undisturbed, am not eager to finish it so soon. I'm more than halfway of Season 2.

I learned from its page here in imdb that it was shown in 1975 yet, but the location shots of Cornwall looked awesome to me, and Ellis equally as awesome a character in this show.

I'm not surprised to learn from you what a "heart-throb" he had become during that time.
And yes, Demelza was such a perfect charming foil for the mulish but actually kind Ross Poldark.

Thank you for those very interesting tidbits of reaction to the movie and Ellis supergran.

RE spends much of his time working on cookbooks these days from his home in France. He's done some occasional TV work, but as a guest star; apparently, his last TV appearance was in and episode of the 2006 Swedish version of Wallander. I can't tell you the last time he did a film. He's done lots of voice over work through the years, too. I can remember watching several documentaries when I was startled to hear such a familiar, beloved voice. RE also writes a food blog, which is quite entertaining; he sometimes discusses his Poldark comrades.
