OT. Why isn't there a British Drama ...

On the message board of IMDb under the TV section there is a sub-category for BritCom but no sub-category for BritDrama or BritPeriodDrama, why not? There are certainly enough British Dramas or British Period Dramas out there. I think it would be great, if I could go to a section where someone might, remind me of or introduce me to a British Drama, I've missed or forgotten.

I suppose it might be because at the time the number of general message Boards were expanded, BritComs were a huge topic in the US and other markets (PBS local channels serving them up nearly daily, BBC America), where as British dramas were on a decline in that period (Masterpiece Theatre had scaled back a lot, A&E had stopped developing projects with UK partners, ditto Bravo).

You could try posting on the LISTS board, or on the board for Masterpiece Theatre/Classic, or even on the British Comedies board.

You might make this suggestion somewhere, but I'm not sure where. Perhaps ask where on the I NEED TO KNOW board?

what types of dramas are you interested in?

You could also browse through some of the Lists people create. Here's the profile of someone who creates Brit Lists

Thanks for responding randommovies2002, I was beginning to feel very lonely. I was just thinking of a discussion board that would bring back memories of shows I haven't seen or even thought of in a very long time and possibly even being introduced to new ones. I haven't really watched many british period dramas or just dramas in the last twenty years and so I don't know if or what has been produced since the mid 90s or slightly prior. Thanks for the Brit Lists, I will check them out and I will try in the BritComs board as well.

Sure, you're welcome. 😃

Are you in the US? It still might be worth a shot to post on the Masterpiece Theatre (1971) board. Maybe we can get more people interested in the conversation?

One other suggestion: browse through the list of titles from Masterpiece Theatre and Masterpiece Classic (and Masterpiece Contemporary). Wikipedia has a comprehensive least for each.

Thank you for all your helpful suggestions randommovies2002, I've visited all these sites and they are very interesting. I was wondering if you know whether there are similar list for Mystery on PBS? There seems to be a lot of shows that I remember, that aren't on these lists. I'm not in the US, I am in Canada but we get the PBS up here and I was raised on it and there are lots of shows that I just can't remember their names.

randommovies2002, Thank you! Thank you!

I have been looking for the name of a show, I saw in the '80s and now thanks to you, I now know. It was Brat Farrar, my brain can rest now and that is good thing because it was getting really really tired.

You're welcome! 😃

Brat Farrar, I never watched it. But I have come across uploaded vids of it. I think you'll find some if you google. If you're really into watching it again, I might be able to send you more links. Let me know.

Thanks randommovie2002.

It was driving me crazy trying to remember the name of the show, I kept thinking it was called Brett Favre or Farrier and knew that wasn't correct. I would love the links if you have them. I just got an unedited copy of Ross Poldark, so I will soon be diving into reading that copy but I would love to refresh my memory of Brat Farrar.

Hey random,
I just googled Brat Farrar and they have all the episodes on a site called dailymotion.com
