Yes. I was 10 when this show aired and I tried swimming like the Man from Atlantis, but it didn't take long before I realized you don't really get very far swimming by just moving your body and legs up and down and keeping your arms pinned to your sides. .
Can I ask a stupid question? ... Better than anyone I know!
You can with swim fins!
shareDefinitely not. I was in a swimming club when this series first aired in the UK and we often used to wind down at the end of a session by imitating MFA's swimming style.

shareThere is actually a swimming style like that. But I am told for good speed you need some swim fins on your feet. Its not overly fast otherwise and takes some practice to get the motions right it seems.

Yeah, it's the dolphin kick - part of the butterfly stroke.
I could do a length of the pool underwater with the dolphin kick. Making fish movements with my mouth and releasing a little used air every so often kept the strain down long enough to get the job done. The lads in my class already had me down as a little weird and some did think I was a mutant. LOL
