'Pity it didn't succeed

Sure, the theme was an abomination, the acting mediocre at best, and the special effects very affordable, but the plots were usually good and so was the sci-fi. I guess TV sci-fi had just become unfashionable and was to remain so for another 10 years.

Just started watching it, and I'm loving it! Pure 70's cheese! I've become bored with modern tv sci fi, dark, glum, conspiratorial, and no fun.

Dark, glum and conspiratorial sounds like great fun to me. My problem w/TV sci-fi is that since the 2nd season or so of Star Trek: TNG, it's been a friggin' soap opera! (With the last vestige of creativity being sunk into Babylon 5)

Same here. I am too loving it so far. Did not know a series existed. I enjoyed the first movie but this is better.

You realize this was the most expensive tv show at the time right?

To be honest it wasn't that good of a show. The acting from the supporting cast was mediocre. That stars seem to put their best foot forward, but you said it yourself, the production values weren't that high.

I actually thought the opening music was decent enough, but the technology and supporting cast for the kind of stories they wanted to tell, just wasn't quite there.

Having said that, I think that show came off better being produced in the late 70s than if it were produced today. I think there was a honesty in the stories and performances that would never be realized had it been produced in the last few years.

On that note, who knows? Maybe we'll see another version of it again.
