Was Heather Menzies in the series?

I know Heather Menzies was in the series but was she also in the film and if so who did she play?

Many thanks.

She was only in the series and was cast as Jessica 6 and in my opinion, was terribly miscast. She wasn't convincing in that role and I think it really brought the whole series down. Gregory Harrison did pretty well as Logan, but was sometimes too much of a weenie to supposedly have been the best of the sandmen, but he was convincing enough.

I think a lot of that had to do that this was a CBS tv series and not a MGM movie.

I never cared for Heather Menzies in the series. She was no Jenny Agutter.

It's a different take. Either one is valid.

"She wasn't convincing in that role and I think it really brought the whole series down."

Keep in mind that the character "Jessica" was raised in a protected environment.

Heather seemed to pull off that character well for a low budget, cookie cutter format show.

Heather did a good job. Back then she was my choice to play Saturn Girl in a Legion of Super-Heroes movie.
Jenny Agutter has said she came this close to taking the TV gig.

I had once read an interview done by Greg Harrison, where he said that halfway through the season, the producers approached Heather Menzies with the idea of her being filmed braless. I don't know if Heather actually did this, but it's a sign that a show is sinking if you need to sink to T/A to keep it going.

What I heard is that there was test footage shot of different costumes that were under consideration for the Jessica character.

The producers wanted something skimpy from the get go.

The outfit they supposedly picked for Heather Menzies had her bra less, wearing a very short toga with plunging neckline, no pantyhose, and cut high on the sides.

CBS saw this and had a cow. Their thinking was that was that the show would appeal to kids and they had to tone it way down with regards to any sexy costumes.

So notice in the pilot you had a revamped costume for Jessica-- the dress is almost down to her knees and her hair is in a beret. She's also wearing ballet slippers and white tights I think. This was over kill.

For the actual show, they put her in a shorter tunic and regular pantyhose-- and her hair was loose.

ALso notice as the show goes on Jessica's tunic dress gets shorter and shorter. Compare the length from the early episodes to the later ones.
