Murder. If memory serves me correctly, he was supposed to have killed his wife and son.

It was never said in the series who Adams was supposed to have killed, just that the only man who could prove his innocence was dead. It was never confirmed in series that he ever had been married or had children, though I admit the 1974 film stated otherwise; the series was a loose continuation of the film, so doesn't really follow it's continuity.

I've never seen the 1974 TV film/pilot,so I can only
guess they'd talk about or show it there or in "The capture Of grizzly Adams".

I think I have that movie on DVD too, and the strange thing about it versus the series was that Dan Haggerty/Grizzly Adams was more grey than he appeared to be in the later TV series, and the entire thing was voiced over by another actor, I think, so it was mostly from the POV of his mental soundtrack as he treked along in the forest. Also too, I don't think Denver Pyle's 'Mad Jack' character was in it either, though Nachoma might've been.

I read the book.It says that he was accused of killing a man.I think it was the town blacksmith. It was a long time ago,so I don't remember exactly. The man was killed in a barn at night. Someone beat him in the head with a hammer
Grizzly Adams found his body bent down and picked up the hammer and was examining it detailed in book.Someone came in and saw him over the body holding the hammer.
