Tim and Eric could play them

While I've never heard Tim and Eric (of Tim and Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job! and Tom Goes to the Mayor) mention this show, I would be shocked if they weren't fans. The banter between Tim and Eric is very reminiscent of Barth and Jerry. On top of that, Fred Willard and Alan Thicke (who produced Fernwood and co-wrote it) have appeared on Tim and Eric's show (though for some reason IMDB doesn't list it under Alan Thicke, I've seen it and you can look it up anywhere else). So important members of the show like them enough, since it's not like they have money to buy celebrity appearances.

I could easily see Tim playing Barth and Eric playing Jerry in a tribute, biopic, or whatever. I'm just so constantly reminded of them since I started re-watching old tapes of Fernwood the other night.
