Is it true that Eight is Enough premiered March 15, 1977, and the person who played the original mother, Joan, died March 27, 1977? ;-(

The original mom died and she was John Travolta's gf. She died of breast cancer just before they started filming Saturday Night Fever. He was extremely emotional during the shoot.
