Why is this show not being released on DVD? Anybody know the answer? It was a popular show! They release shows like "Emergency" and "Adam-12" and NOT "Eight is Enough".

I think one of the problems is that "Eight is Enough" has never really been successful in syndicated reruns. Sure, it's turned up occasionally for short runs, but has never really been a staple, and my guess is that Warner Bros is worried that that is an indication of how it will sell on DVD.
My other theory is that since it's based on a book, perhaps there is a rights issue with DVD revenues (when the show was produced in the 1970s, no one was thinking about home video revenues, so perhaps that wasn't part of the contract).

Well if Warner are reading please note that episodes in syndication aren't always a good judge of a show's popularity. I for one am in the UK and used to watch EIE when I lived abroad outside of the US - so the catchment of fans is worldwide.
A dvd is long overdue!
