anyone else remember. . .

Ok, used to watch CotS and also another 2 programs. One was about children who had psy powers. I remember one of them was a black girl. They called normals "Saps" (short for sapiens) (also showed on Nick)

The second was a sci fi series where everyone ran around in white jump suits and the cars were these neat looking egg shaped things.

I can't remember what either show is called, but boy, would I love to find them.

On the plus side, I did a little dance for joy when I found CoTS on dvd, now if someone could just tell me what those other 2 shows were--and if I could just find them on dvd

Well, the third series I was trying to find was called unimaginatively enough "UFO" I finally managed to convince the BBC web site to accept my log in ID and found a thread there after 4 days of searching. The entire series (all 27 episodes) is now available on deepdiscountdvd.com and I ordered it. The same guy who came up with the wonderful "Thunderbirds", "Stingray" and eventually "Space: 1999" came up with this wonderful (at least, wonderful in MY memory) show.

I believe this was "The Tommorow People". They showed the original British series on Nick in the early eighties and then in the ninties they made an more upto date version. The evolved young people were known as HomoSuperior where as the non-evolved peoples were called HomoSapiens. The HomoSuperior youngsters liked to refer to themselves as The Tomorrow People for the most part. CoS also showed on Nick in the early eighties as an anthology special called "The Third Eye" which was a collection of television stories from England and New Zealand that all involved children with psychic powers.

Need more info....Was it British? Remember a year, a channel, a known actor/actress?

Thanks Hyper, because of you I was finally able to also find the DVD's of The Tomorrow People. The complete series is now available in one bundle and as soon as I have my Christmas bills paid off I'll be getting that too.

BTW--what was the 90's version of the show called? That might be interesting to see too

reply

belive it or not the 90s version of The Tommorrow People was also called The Tommorow People. You shouldn't mix them up if you are able to see the year they where made - the new series (NS) is very different to the original series OS so if you like one, you might not like the other - but I have learnt to get used to the NS as well.

I'll liked both TV versions of TP and the Big Finish Audio ones as well

Does anyone remember a serie involving misterious gnomegardens and kids resolving things?

My two cents, bye

More clues please?

A children serie from the 70's like the Enid Blyton's Five, where there are:

A group of childs/teens from a neighbourhood, with actors -kids mostly- trying to solve a mistery involving the statues. Misteries involving GARDEN GNOMES and gardens from the neighbourhood.
Maybe a British/Australian mini-serie.It has to be a short serie (6-8 epidodes ala british) or miniseries.
Not futuristic in any way, it has the feeling of supernatural gardengnomes (maybe coloured or stone-raw/gargoylesques).

These are vague clues and can I can be wrong since I was 9yo and nearly 30 years have passed.

I posted already in "I need to Know" but failed. So after watching COTS and seeing this post I had to try :P

Thanks for your reply

Try this, maybe what you are looking for maybe no

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063903/

I dont know this serie but I laughed hard with the "... many racial and cultural confrontations between the two groups of gnomes..".

Nope its not a comedy what i'm looking for. It got supernatural tones with detectivesque attitude from the kids. In a way similar to CotS.

Thing is I remember vaguely and I can be misleading at some points. Since I'd seen it in spanishTV surely the screening was delayed and it can be from 75 to 83.

Thanks for the reply :)

I have very vague memories of a New Zealand tv series called Children of the Dog Star. It was first broadcast in 1984, so it probably isn't what you were thinking of, but I thought I'd mention it. I remember so little about it, it might not be anything like the programme you're looking for.

Edit: I'll bet the show you're thinking of is The Witches and the Grinnygog. Barely remember that one either, but the wikipedia article makes it sound right.

The show you're thinking of was called The Witches and the Grinnygog. It aired on Nickelodeon as part of the Third Eye series back in the 80s. It was the last serial added after The Haunting of Cassie Palmer, Under the Mountain, Children of the Stones and Into the Labyrinth (1st season only). Due to it being added much later I believe they only showed it in its entirety twice before the Third Eye was cancelled. It's quite hard to find but I own most of the others. Hope this helps and happy hunting.
