Need Help To Identify An 80's Kids Sci-Fi Series, Please!

The main characters were two kids (a boy and girl) about 13 years old, and an old man in his 70s. There were space aliens who had secret lairs near the town where the people lived. I can't remember if we see the space aliens or not. The entrances to the aliens' lairs were underwater. They had to get in thru a green glowing membrane. Inside it looked like slimy wet rock and organic matter.

The old man showed the kids how to fight the aliens with energy stones, I believe. (I thought it was 'Children of the Stones' but the plot description doesn't look the same) The energy stones, when combined, were strong enough to defeat the aliens. Oh, and I think the aliens were using some kind of mind control.
So, three people, three stones, find them, get them together, defeat the aliens using rainbow light. Anybody?

It lasted about 10 episodes.

The show is called Under The Mountain It was shown on Nickelodeon in the 80's

The show you're thinking of is Under the Mountain. It was shown on Nickelodeon in the early 80s as part of the Third Eye series. The Haunting of Cassie Palmer, Into the Labyrinth, Children of the Stones and The Witches and the Grinnygog were also shown as part of The Third Eye program. Under the Mountain consisted of 8 episodes. I own a bootleg f the series and you may be able to find it on eBay. Hope this helps.
