All I remember is that at the time I thought the show was really funny and it made me laugh. A lot of people were talking about the show and watching it because Jimmy Carter had just become president and the entire media was going overboard about him being a peanut farmer from Georgia. (He turned out to be one of the best presidents during and after his term)
i'm glad to see our family isn't the only one that remembers this show fondly! making fun of southern charm, with that falsetto "handl-it, handl-it" - boy that was a very different time, when having a loud-mouthed redneck brother who hawked his own beer made you a more beloved president! people today are just way too uptight by contrast. this was a funny show. i was 12 also when this came on, so we were probably their target demographic. i wish i could see this again.
Remember when Billy Beer failed shortly after hitting the market? People suddenly wanted to buy what was left because they expected it to become valuable. But there were warehouses full of the stuff.
And remember Billy taking a whizz on the airport runway?
