Horrible

This is one of the dumbest films I have ever seen. It's just plain *beep* stupid. And annoying as well. So the children turns into evil killers, ok. We have seen that in Children of the Damned. Evil "zombie" children can work. But here we have a idiot tourist couple who sees loads of people murdered/dead and act like nothing is going on. That idiot leading man just walks around and leaves his wife defenseless time and time again though he knows that thechildren are killers. And even worse they have a problem with killing these children? Why? It's just ridiculous. And the opening? What? Yes children die, so what? Ah so the point is that the children are fighing back, how brilliant. First of all the way they are all just hypnothised and turns into monsters on the spot is just dumb at least in a movie that tries to be about "reality". If it had been some supernatural fairytale or if we knew the origins it could have worked somewhat better, but lets just drop that. No matter what this is just ridiculous and horrible. Made me seriously mad. 3/10.

It was nicely frames though

Yes, there were movies including killer children before this one including Children of the Damned. But what's your point? There were also horror movies about serial killers made before Halloween including Black Christmas, Psycho, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre; but does that mean Halloween is garbage? No, of course not. It's a horror classic. I think the reason they didn't leave the island is because of the lady who kept making phone calls. If she needed help, it would be terrible just to abandon her. The fact that they let an innocent woman die and left without trying to help her would probably haunt them for the rest of their lives. Also, I think he left his wife behind a lot because she was very far into her pregnancy so she obviously wouldn't have been able to move around as well as she would've been able to before so it would be easier for both of them just for her to stay behind.

As for the issue of killing children, I've seen people on many occasions who won't watch films in which kids die. They're fine with seeing adults get slaughtered, but not kids. Children are different. They're supposed to be portraits of innocence. They are naive, have much to learn about the way the world works, and are full of joy and imagination unlike many adults; so I can see why people would feel a bit uneasy about murdering a child themselves. You act as if murdering a child is just as meaningless as going outside to check the mail. Also, I think the beginning of the movie is extremely effective. It is the responsibility of adults to make this world a better place for children, and they failed since so many children die during wars and of starvation on a daily basis. Perhaps in this movie, the children believed they deserved a try at taking control since the adults failed so they expressed that by killing them to prove they could do a better job. You said "Yes, children die. So what?" Well, perhaps we need to change something about the world and try to do a better job with things so children won't have to die quite as often.

And also, I think the fact that this movie doesn't give a reason or motive for the children committing acts of murder works to it's advantage. It is very scary to think that kids could just get in a large group and go on a random killing spree for no reason at all. I like when films are ambiguous because it allows viewers to play a role in the film. They get to fill in the blanks themselves with their own imagination. I love this movie and give it a 9.5/10.

Come, fly the teeth of the wind. Share my wings.

They did leave the other woman who lived out of town. I don't remember them even looking back.
