Mexico, Spain connect on English-lingo horror

MEXICO CITY -- Mexican shingle Lemon Films is set to co-produce Child's Game (working title), its first English-language picture with Spain's Filmax Entertainment. The film is a remake of Spanish horror film Island of the Damned. Lemon Films producer Billy Rovzar said he expects production to begin in March. Budgeted at about $4 million, the movie centers on a couple of tourists who arrive on an island where crazed children are murdering adults. Child's Game is Spanish helmer David Alcalde's feature film debut. Diego Luna has read the script and is interested in the project, according to Canana Films producer Pablo Cruz

I usually hate remakes too, but if Diego Luna has a big part in it I might like it.

it occured to me all through the movie how different I'd do it if I had to remake it. For one, I would have ended it right after they shoot the child who sneaks up on them with a handgun... the father kills him, the children run away, he leaves to look, but hears his wife scream. When he comes back in the room, her fetus has torn itself out of her belly, and it standing next to her corpse with the pistol the little boy dropped when he died. The fetus then turns the gun on the father. Roll credits. Man that would have been VERY disturbing, sort of like Cronenberg at the end of VIDEODROME.
