Terrible, inaccurate script. Shabby production values, terrible photography and typically episodic TV Direction by Hiller the hack add up to a fairly worthless film. However, one has to credit Steiger for giving it his all and actually giving a PERFORMANCE as Fields, rather than an impression.

Steiger was abit nutty himself.
It's taken many years but I've learned something..

It's call the Peter Principle.
Whomever, and at whatever profession, tend to rise to ther level of incompetence.
Steiger, DeNiro, etc etc.. have really down some poopie acting at some time.. usually near the latter half of their career.. They shouldn't be critized.. it just happens.. but nobody seems willing to say it out loud...
