Terrible musical score altogether.

Strange that Lalo Schifrin couldn't do better. Not the right score for this kind of film. The book by Gordon Thomas and Max Morgan Witts is really worth reading. (I changed my mind about the film when I watched it again (6/08). I really disliked it the first time I saw it.)

I thought the score was one of the better features of the movie, but then I'm into the big band music of that era.

The characters I liked the most were Max and Anna and the irony that some of Anna's family survived.

That didn´t bother me - in fact, I found the score quite decent. Not so much the broad characterizations that offered mainly one-dimensionally good or evil people, the corny dialogue and too many tacky scenes to even count. It does have its good sides, but overall it´s one trite, blunt melodrama that works hard to make everything as obvious as possible. And certainly succeeds.
