Where can I purchase this movie?
Amazon.com doesn't have it, anyone know where to get it (dvd preferrably, any region code)?
sharehopefully this link should get you a vhs version. cant find on on dvd. generally, in my experience, the russian films that are enjoyed outside of russia, ie the more er...challenging stuff eg tarkovsky etc are less common on dvd, and new popular films come out on dvd with all the trappings. obviously, not all of the latter are bad! if you want some farily brutal, and depressing, ultra slick contempory russian film making then check "bumer", which is like a total fetishisation of luxury cars.

Thanks for the help but one question though, is that tape English subtitled? Couldn't find any indication on that page, though maybe I just missed it. Though the images alone are worth seeing the film for, I'd like to know I could actually understand the thing if I buy it
shareI purchased the VHS without english subtitles from rb3mp3.com in 2002, now it's
russiandvd.com. 1 wartched the whole movie without understanding the russian language, had not much problem following the story. It's that well acted and directed. I still want to watch an english subtitled version.
According to Criterion's blog, this will be getting released (along with some other Shepitko films) as part of their budget Eclipse line (probably by the end of the year.)
