What is real

What was real and imaginary in this movie, was it all in Hoppers characters head, was it all just a metaphor, scenes like the one where the passengers Hopper is talking to get up and grab his girlfriend and hold her while another passenger can come over and brutally rape the living daylights out of her while the conversation still goes on , people he is talking to get kidnapped and then he is talking to them a few seconds later while they deny what happened characters motivations changing ..WTF???????..my problem is I cannot figure out if I like the movie or not
