Goodtimes VS Warner

Dare I say it? The Goodtimes video version is much better than the Warner VHS release!
For some reason, the Goodtimes video version, though in LP mode, is brightly lit, and seems to be in better sound than the Warner issue.
Maybe that's why I sold the Goodtimes VHS version for over thirty big ones oneBay, and then the old Warner tape, I was able to get opening bid.
Shucks.

Most of Goodtimes' VHS releases of Warner stuff tended to be better than the old clamshell Warner releases. Compare Goodtimes' tapes of FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER and THE RAVEN to the original Warner tapes. The transfers are sharper and more colorful (though still cropped - but at least they're on DVD now in scope)

I am hoping to find this movie in Widescreen. I bought an bootleg DVD's and it is from Goodtimes VHS transfer and i was disappointed. I seen this movie presented in Widescreen in horror channels like "Scream" and "Dusk". If anyone knows or has an Widescreen version of the movie, please let me know.

You can find the widescreen version on DVD at RevengeHorror.com-- ought to cost you around $23, total. It's where I got my copy.

raremoviesworldwide.com has it for $7.00 and the quality is great. Highly recommended site!

about revengehorror.com ... I purchased this movie at the beginning of June, they debited my account for the $23 and it's been about 3 weeks and I still haven't received the video. I've emailed them regarding my order status twice this week and they have yet to respond.

Since their website says something like "why wait 2 weeks?" as a reason to order from them and the "2 weeks" has already passed; I'm wondering whether I've been scammed. I understand it may be a small organization and things like vacation may be a factor, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a problem.

I also notice that there is no contact phone number ... something I will remember in the future when I consider ordering from small companies.

Hopefully, everything will work out fine and they'll send me the movie ... I remember watching it when it was on HBO in the early 80s and thinking it was a lot creepier than the rash of horror flicks flooding the screen back then (Friday the 13th, Terror Train, etc.)

I've ordered from RevengeHorror on four separate occasions, as recently as just a few months ago, and have never had problems. They even threw in bonus movies on a couple of those orders, which was cool. From my own experience, I can assure you they're not scammers, unless something major changed over there since the beginning of this year.

I did notice, however, that they recently stopped offering their widescreen 'collector's edition' of Rolling Thunder and the uncut widescreen version of Death Wish II-- both MGM titles (formerly Orion titles), as I believe TTTDS is, also. I suspect a cease-and-desist order from MGM or whomever owns those titles now. Which stinks, because I'd planned on getting both of those in the future. Another old Orion title that recently vanished from the site was the uncut version of Death Weekend, but I managed to snag that one from RevengeHorror before it got pulled.

That said, as of last week, RevengeHorror was still offering TTTDS on their site. And if they're not able to deliver, they need to reimburse you. I'd give it another week or two (I've had problems with USPS delivery recently being way slow), then get on them again. They've replied to my emails before, so I'm not sure why they'd be ignoring them now.

Hope you get your order, though. I don't know where they got the widescreen print from, but it looks pretty good, considering.

Is the Goodtimes VHS release in widescreen or full frame?

reply

The title opens up widescreen then settles comfortably into pan and scan.
