what a piece of crap

this movie was so bad, everything about it was terrible, it has to be one of the worst movies to come out in the 70's.

reply

I think it was better than the omen. I'd like to see "the night church" made in an 80's style film better than most satan type films.

The box, you opened it we came.

"To The Devil A Daughter" would probably be at the bottom of my Hammer thrillers list.

reply

it was a very bad movie. i hoped even the ending would be good, but no

reply

The ending didn't make any sense, he has a stone? wtf????

reply

Next time watch the movie instead of complaining for nothing.

** SPOILERS **
** SPOILERS **

We clearly see him collect the stone while he goes up the hill, then he uses it to kill George de Grass. With his blood on it, he now has the same protection as Father Michael. This was brilliant.

Erm...ok. If I made it to the end, doesn't that mean that I watched the movie!

its not THAT bad

but definitely not good either

When there's no more room in hell, The dead will walk the earth...

reply

Except for Kinski's bush, yes, it definAtely is that bad!

reply

its not THAT bad

A ringing endorsement!

reply

Anything featuring a nude 14-year-old deserves 5 out of 10 at the very least!

Roman Polanski isn't a paedophile. But Selene is a c-nt!

reply

...probably because it isn't the typical loud, overacted, boring Hammer movie. A pleasant surprise.

reply

It was a good little chiller. And nastassja looked incredible.

reply

I could have done without seeing Christopher Lee's 50 year old @$$, too.

I'm nobody's fool, least of all yours.

reply

It was so blatant it was a body double I don't know if I should even bother to point it out...

So unhappy was Denis Wheatley with the final result, that he refused to allow Hammer to film any more of his books.

To the Devil—A Daughter proved to be the last of Wheatley's books to be filmed, and the last horror film made by Hammer Studios.

reply

[deleted]

I stuck with it and got a good laugh or two.

reply

It might also have to do with the fact that Dennis Wheatley died the year after the movie's release, no? Kind of hard to approve of future movies if you're dead. I'm sure he was most unhappy about that too.

A year is still enough to tell them he never wanted them to adapt any of his books again. Dang, you're dumb.

reply

Thought it was so-so

"Hey! Ladies! That was fun!"

reply

It is a pretty crap film -starts off by drawing viewer in - then gets bogged down in boooring.
Some shocking scences (the baby re re-entering/sex) - and Nastassja Kinski looks so dullllll and drearrry.

Hey Witchdoctor, give us the magic words.
ooh ee ooh ah ah, ting tang wallawallabingba

reply

I agree, it is a god awful piece of crap. I kinda knew people here would be saying it was awful also.

I thought Christopher Lee being in it would be a good thing, instead we get a couple of old guys with books talking about satanism.

reply

It was on again last night and it seemed worse to me than the first time of viewing it. I love christopher Lee but I just can't get into this film.

"Hey! Ladies! That was fun!"

reply

It was absolutely not boring. But then again you've rated most of the movies in your Imdb profile below 6 so it seems you find all movies boring.

I thought it was very creepy.

There's a lot of nonsense in that thread. It was a great and very special film! The only problem was the pacing and that the direction, especially actors direction, was not always top (Widmark's acting was stilted at times). There were amazing moments though, pure Hammer/Wheathley, it doesn't get more creative, smarter and surprising than that in matter of cinematographic Satanism. Loved it!
