Am I the only one?

I can't believe I'm the only one who remembers this movie.

I just saw it for tyhe first time myself on FMC. I was always a big Irwin Allen fan, so it's good to see this.

The obvious stock footage was hilarious, and the acting kind of wooden, but that's to be expected. I love time travel movies and this one was good enough to watch. I couldn't see the same two characters in an ongoing series though. They were both kind of clueless, especially the "narcoleptic" one. :)

I remember it well but then again I'm a big Allen fan. Now my question is was this an attempt at a new series? At the end they hinted at going to other times and other cures.

Yes,this was a TV-Pilot for Irwin Allen that wasn't picked up.City Beneath the Sea was also a TV-Movie that served as a pilot for Allen too.I felt that this pilot(The Time Travelers)was superior in its scripting & better than The Time Tunnel.I guess because TTT's set was so darn massive & impressive that they decided to scale down things for this TV-movie.Less costly too. That's the only aspect I didn't care for, time travel tech should be awe inspiring to behold.

"The Chicago Fire scenes were scary enough........does anyone know if some of it was actual footage of the fire?"

The great Chicago fire was in 1871 ...... what made you think there would be film footage of the fire?

I remember when it first came on tv back in 1976

I am getting this on dvd soon

Is this TV movie available on DVD? Was it ever released on DVD? If so, I'd like to know where to find it. I love it more for sentimetal reasons more than anything. I saw it when it first aired on TV when I was 9yrs old.

It's included as a bonus feature of Volume 2 of the Time Tunnel TV series DVD sets, so no need to go after an inferior bootleg copy. I just bought both volumes of Time Tunnel at Best Buy for $7.99 each. What a deal!

As part of his stage act, the late comedian Andy Kaufman used to show a clip from D.W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation depicting the assassination of President Lincoln. He would tell the audience that this was ACTUAL, recently discovered film footage of Lincoln being shot -- and they took his word for it! Never mind that Lincoln was assassinated in 1865 and motion pictures didn't exist until the 1890s.

No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

I remember watching this when I was a kid! Talk about time traveling! It was pretty decent for a TV movie.

I found that I had this movie on VHS. Made a DVD of it, not perfect but watchable. If interested, send email to [email protected]

Just saw it as an extra on The Time Tunnel dvd box set. Average enough movie which could've easily been an extended Fantasy Island episode minus Roarke, Tattoo, etc. I'm not surprised it wasn't picked up for a tv series. Maybe the lack of a closing twist that implied a small element of time had been altered would've helped.

You're not supposed to alter people or events when you go back in time but we are a race of meddling humans after all ;) Where's the fun of not tinkering here or there ?
