Buying The Tenth Level

Does anyone know where I can buy a copy of The Tenth Level? I saw it in my HS Sociology class years ago and haven't run across it since. If you have a copy that you are willing to sell or if you know where I can find one, please email me at [email protected].

Thanks

Would also like to express my interest in acquiring the film. I'm a college instructor who has taught Milgrim's work in my courses. I also saw The Tenth Level as a young man and remember it to this day. I have made various inquiries over the years through the college's I've worked at but no one has been able to track down a copy. I've also sent email queries to Star Trek fans hoping someone would have a copy.

I am mystified that this film unobtainable. If I am ever successful in finding a copy I will certainly let you know, and hope you will do the same.

Keep on hunting.

Why wouldn't you just want to show the Milgram experiment itself? I think that can be gotten easily enough.

This is what I have found out so far but still not available.
In August of 1976 ABC presented a prime-time Dramatization of the obedience experiments and the events surrounding them, titled "The Tenth Level". William Shatner had the starring role as Stephen Hunter, the Milgram-like scientist. Beorge Bellak wrote the movie and received Honorable Mention in the American Psychological Association's media awards in 1977.

I have contacted by e-mail ABC umpteen times to no avail. I am going to look for a telephone number for ABC and try that route.

The Book "Openning Skinners Box" by Lauren Slater, makes several notations and more info that might help you search (Chapter Two). At the end of the book are "endnotes" which lists all publications and footnotes referring to his work.

Good Luck, and if you find it, please let us all know!!!! Carol Phillips

I FOUND IT!!!! It's only $325.00! If you got that kind of money go to the website Penn State Media. There you'll find Stanley Milgrams 45 minute film for sale called "Obedience". Since Stanley studied at Penn, I guess they have the original test on film. I'm still looking! I've written them and asked for a $19.95 DVD! Carol Phillips

Hello All!
I am pretty sure what you have found at Penn Sate is not the TV movie of Milgram's experiments but a tape of the actual experiments themselves. I teach a class in marketing research and have a copy of the 50 minute tape that shows the actual experiments. It's a great tape and very interesting. The movie with William Shatner is altogether different. Anybody have any luck with the Shatner tape?

P.S. Penn States phone # is 1800-770-2111. I think that's their media dept.

Hello!
I realize it's been awhile since you sent out your request for a copy of The Tenth Level? Have you been able to locate a copy? If so, could I get a copy of the movie from you? Also, if you are interetsed in the work of Stanley Milgram, a book "The Man Who Shoccked the World" came out about a year ago and is a biography on Milgram and his work. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for starting this thread.

This information - what we ordinary people are capable of - really needs to be kept in our collective memory, and films help with that. With time it seems that these things are forgotten.

I really think that these experiments should be discussed at the High School level.

Any luck on the Tenth Level yet? I would like to use this film in my classes, like the famous elementary classroom discrimination exercise "Blue Eye, Brown Eye" --

( "A Class Divided" can be viewed online at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/divided/etc/view.html )--

the message in the Tenth Level is necessary for the development of a just civil society. Any updates on obtaining the film?

thanks

Ok kids. Here's the biggest problem right now. It was CBS, not ABC that did it. At least according to the APA.
