the nonstop repetitive saxophone

really Scorsese couldn't use other and different music in different scenes? it often seems to be used inappropriately, including when he first meets Iris and the pimp throws him money. Rather than some fitting music that shows he is conflicted and gives us insight into his thoughts, we get the same saxophone song again... for the 15th time only 30 minutes into the film...

I couldn't think of why it bothered me so much besides it being annoyingly repetitive and used poorly. til I figured it out. it reminds me of the scene transitions in 90s tv shows where it fades and you get a short 5 second "transition music" that uses the same one over and over again

is there a really good reason im missing why he would do this? or just an inexperienced Scorsese hamfistedly trying to use something that doesnt really work?
