Did Travis have a thing for Iris?

I've noticed that the TV Tropes page for this film seems to strongly imply that Travis holds some sort of attraction toward Iris. After having watched the film, I am curious about this. Do you agree or disagree that Travis is attracted to Iris?

reply

No. It was what it appeared to be. He thought she was being exploited and thought he could reach her. As to what was motivating him who knows?

reply

Well he gives a Rorschach-esque, racist monologue about how disgusted he is with the city and with society. I'm pretty sure he saves her because he's disgusted by the idea of a child being used as a hooker

reply

Travis was seeking a normal human interaction with someone, anyone really...
He seemed very lonely

I also think he wanted to be a hero to someone...he was a US Marine vet of the Vietnam war and those guys were terribly neglected here in The States

He was seeking validation and was not a pervert imo

reply

I think he did. His hesitation when she unbuckles his pants gives it away. But then he'd be exactly the kind of scum he wants to kill, so he directed it all into savior mode.
