I Don't Know Why

I don't know why but whenever this movie is on t.v. I always watch it. It's hypnotic and fun and I really enjoy it. Makes me want to wear a patch and grab a cutlass or something. A great, silly, fun, cool film that should be on every weekend in the afternoon.

P.S.: Shaw's Irish accent is so cool. Every time he says "girl" I want to imitate it. And any guy who could dress in a full red outfit and still look tough is alright in my books.

This kept my attention the whole film through. Very fun evening followed.

i like this movie too. Is it ok for a young kid to watch, because i want to rent the dvd.

reply

I would not recommend it for young kids, as there are a lot of raunchy scenes, especially in the tavern and in the scenes depicting Lord Durrant taking sadomachochistic delights in torturing people and inflicting pain on himself. Also, in the TV edited versions, we have the heroine threatening the idiot major with a dagger threatening "to cut his guts out". In the actual movie, which will probably be on the dvd, she actually threatens to cut "them both off" (guess what that means).

I remember seeing this in the theatre when I was 8...I understood the concept of "good guys" and "bad guys" (because it was as simple as that back then!), and none of it bothered me too much...there were a few moments that were upsetting, but nothing compared to today. And the acting was so much better!

I have long felt that Genevieve Bujold is one of the most winsome ladies in film. I watch this now and then, not only for the fun, but also for her.

Gorgeous and a good actress. The whole idea of a such a woman also being able to fight in a movie back then was uncommon.
