DVD?

Yet another example of the contempt with which we are treated by the Australian industry. Why this show hasn't been released on DVD I cannot understand. I missed the show first time around being a typiocally self absorbed teen. When it was repaeted in the nineties, I enjoyed it immensely. I missed seeing Dave get shot in the final episode. Crawfords or Channel Nein or who ever owns the copyright should release this on DVD right now.

The whole series will never come out on dvd as there's too many shows. There's a dvd out of the first couple of episodes i think. I don't care as i have the entire series on video which i recorded last time it aired in melbourne. It's actually screening 4am on channel WIN in country victoria at the moment.
By the way, Dave doesn't get shot. He gets run over by the car Terry and his fellow escapee from prison are driving. Dave runs onto the road to try and get them to pull over and stop running from the police who have just started pursuing them. Terry's prison buddie is the one who is driving.

Hi
I know it's a long shot but i'm looking for videos (dvd's) of Sullivans (mostley from 1942 - 1945 seasons). I don't know if yo're able to copy your video's. I'd by happy to negotiate a price. Or do you know of a place where episodes can be bought?
David.

i'm a big time fan of the Sullivans, they had released the first 2 episodes of the Sullivans 1& 2nd episode (On the brink of War and The Court Martial)
i got to actually meet Reg Gorman who played jack in Ararat he was doing a talk at the town hall and he's a very nice gentleman down to earth he came out and we had a good chat, and he signed the Dvd Cover for me and he told me Richard Morgan is very very sick, he's got Parkinsons like American Actor Michael J Fox
Reg said Richard had it since he was in his 30's

back to dvds how about other shows who get dvd's and they got lots of episodes
how come their releasing blue heelers, A country Practice etc now it Ran for years maby contact crawfords to see if they plan to release further episodes

I so want every episode released on DVD. I know it's a lot of episodes but with new technology like Blue Ray the ability to put more and more on one diskette (hence keep price down) is increasing.

That's very sad news about Richard Morgan. I really liked his Terry, he was a very lovable rogue.

Did anyone see Paul Cronin and Steven Tandy on 'Temptation' recently? I had no idea it was on, bugger. It was nice to see Paul Cronin on 'Talking Heads' a few weeks ago. (The transcript is on their site www.abc.net.au/talkingheads ) Lorraine Bayly was on the show last year (and Steven Tandy could be seen in the background at one point).

I'd also love to see more of the series released on DVD. The disc released so far has two separate episodes (the first and a much later one, featuring Mel Gibson in a small role), and interviews with Lorraine Bayly and Andrew McFarlane. I think they could have done better than this, considering what an important series it was and continues to be. A double disc or box set, with lots of extras would be excellent. There must be tons of stuff they could put on it, from out-takes to interviews and press clippings. Commentaries would be great too.

Richard's condition is not Parkinsons but Motor Neurone Disease.
He was on Melbourne ABC radio yesterday:

Very sad indeed.

Great story about Reg Gorman Andyt29 - I've got a goody! When I was in my teens and growing up in Melbourne (I live in L.A. now) I was an extra on The Sullivans a couple of times (I was so bad even as an extra that they actually cut one of my scenes out!). But anyway, this one particular time (I was 15 at the time) I'd just been for a wardrobe fitting at the Crawford Producton Studios in Carlton (I think it was) and my mum and I popped into the cafeteria for lunch while we waited for them to get my costume ready. So we're sitting at a table and who should walk up and introduce himself but Reg Gorman. He sat with us and chatted for about 30 minutes. He did seem like a nice, down to earth bloke but I can't help thinking that he was hitting on my Mum as she was quite a looker in her youth - sort of a young Elizabeth Taylor. So I reckon old Reg was workin' it!

Hi
Did anyone respond to you about the Sullivans? the interest is still out there, and its something I have been trying to catch up on, I have written to numerous people and sent letters to Sky, UK Gold even ITV, I just get blanked, what they could do with besides the UK Gold Channel is something called nostalga TV, and not the old repeats we get on all the channels, I cannot tell you how many times I see the more modern films and soaps on different channels, and the same old ones on different channels, I love these old Dad's Army, but there are on loads of channels, same as the Vicar of Dibley, yes I do like these, but there are other great series out there as well. But who knows maybe the message will hit home one day.
thanks
Kathy

I don't know why they haven't released the whole series on DVD either. It was such a hit and people still appear to be interested in the show.

They have begun to release Blue Heelers on DVD and that went on for several years so why not some of the older shows like the Sullivans.

there is a dvd available of the first few episodes and also the episodes when mel gibson was in, i bought mine on e bay

I used to watch The Sullivans as a kid; it was shown daily at lunchtime on ITV in the UK during the late 70s / early 80s. I used to come home from school for lunch and The Sullivans was part of my daily routine. Would love to see it again.

In my opinion I think within about the next half dozen years we will all be able to download every episode of the amazing Australian TV show The Sullivans. Why I believe this is because the face of TV is changing rapidly. Bill Gates recently noted that within 5 years TV as we have it will be completely unrecognizable. In this respect the ABC is seriously looking into opening its archives for downloading by the public. I believe Channel 9 (who has The Sullivans in their archives) will follow suit within a few years if, as I expect, the ABC venture proves a financial winner.

Only problem with The Sullivans is that its run was just over 1000 episodes so even a modest fee of $1 per episode is a hefty price to pay.

I would classify The Sullivans as a soap due to 1114 episodes, if it was on everday because the longest running series was gunsmoke with 20 seasons (635 episodes) the longest running soap we have for the Uk is coronation street with nealy 47 years in it's history.
