Sullivans-fave character?

This was my fave series.I think it is the best drama series ever.I was able to get the episodes on DVD and now I can enjoy it again.Who was your fave character?I loved Grace and John.

reply

Grace!!!

I'm so happy that you enjoy the episodes you bought from me.

reply

Grace Sullivan was my favourite, Lorraine Bayly is such a quality actress, all the others were too, but the show lost something when she was written out.

reply

Alice was my favourite character. I thought Megan Williams played her beautifully.

I wish they would officially release this series on dvd!

I have just started watching the series for the 5th time! It's probably my favourite show (Breaking Bad is #2) of all time. My all-time favourite character is Burt Duggan... what a classic his character was. I also loved watching Norm, Harry and Maggie was good value too.

reply

I've started watching on Dailymotion. I find Bert Duggan to be a complete bastard, Imcan only hope his character is fleshed out a bit more as the series progresses.

Gotta be Uncle "g'day, g'day" Harry.

reply

Have to agree with that too. When Uncle Harry left the show (struck it rich with Sullivan's special services) the program was worse off.

I think you missed out a "g'day" there. There used to be 3 of them hehe.

I watched this when I was in college in Greece in the early 80s; favorite character, "Norm"; favorite moment: When the family was standing around a bonfire & one of them says, 'It's the middle of August, it's Freezing!' That's when I learned the seasons in the Southern Hemisphere was the opposite of up here in The North.

There was a long segment set during the fighting for Crete in 1941 as well. That must have been popular in Greece???

reply

Exactly-and that's where I knew 'Norm' from; then again there are hundreds of thousands (or maybe millions) of Australian-Greeks so I wouldn't be surprised at the 'synergy'.

I've been re-watching The Sullivans on Dailymotion. Only the first 200 episodes are uploaded but I am on episode 130 now. They have just taken Bardia in North Africa in Jan 1941 so the Crete segment should be there before I get to 200. First 100 episodes were 1939 and 1940. Should be end of 1941 at least before 200 is up.

reply

The ironic thing is the Crete eps also starred Tristan Rogers as a German agent posing as a 'Digger'. My sister was floored when she saw him because at the time Rogers was a staple on an American Soap Opera she liked to watch.

I hope you get to see the remaining circa 900 episodes because trust me the show gets better! I have seen it 5 times from start to finish in my lifetime and I will easily watch it a few times more before I drop off this mortal coil. 10/10 for me.
