Kris Kristofferson's best movie role?

Aside from John Norman Howard, what is your favorite K. K. role? I love the charactor Blacky Buck in The Songwriter, Rubber Duck in Convoy, Whistler in the Blade movies and The Ringo Kid in Stagecoach. Ok, I just love K. in whatever he is in.

Whistler in Blade.

I loved him in "The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With the Sea."

Also "A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries," which is about the great writer James Jones.

He was wonderful in a made for TV miniseries called "Blood and Orchids," too.

This performance does seem to stand out.

I didn't think he did a bad job as Billy in Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.

Whistler in the Blade series was bad ass and cool. LOVE that character.

reply

Absolutely Whistler. He did it perfectly.

reply

I agree! I love Whistler. No one could have done it better.

He did a great, believable job as Bobby Logan, Border Patrol officer, in Flashpoint with Treat Williams.

I know the last post was a long time ago, but I watched this on tv and had to say OMG Kris Kristofferson was deeply sexy in this film!!! Whoa!!

I always thought one of his best was his first starring role, Cisco Pike, in the movie of the same name ... co-starring Gene Hackman, Karen Black, and Harry Dean Stanton with some short appearances by a ton of familiar faces including Roscoe Lee Browne, Joy Bang (lol gotta love that name), Doug Sahm (of Sir Douglas Quintet fame a fairly famous Tex-Mex rock group), Howard Hesseman (watch close, it's real brief), Antonio Fargas (of Huggy Bear fame from Starsky and Hutch), and finally Allan Arbus (perhaps best known for his recurring role as Dr. Sidney Freedman in the TV series M*A*S*H).

Lots of people to watch for lol ...

Also a very famous club to watch for is the Troubadour Club where a ton of up-and-coming and already-famous singer-songwriters performed during the 60s and 70s where they film outside and inside the club apparently when it was open and doing regular business ... also if you watch close when they are outside you can see the poster advertising an appearance by Waylon Jennings ... to be followed by Jerry Jeff Walker ... very cool ...

the soundtrack is also a treat in that is includes most of the big songs from Kristofferson's "Silver-Tongued Devil" album ... one of his very best efforts indeed ... the soundtrack also includes the rowdy and fun Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee song "Hootin' and Hollerin'" ... just a great wild lil tune from a classic folk/blues duo ...

oh yeah, and Kristoferson's acting is pretty good too ;) lol ... he's clean-cut and fresh faced and looking very young and healthy and seems to be a natural in front of the camera ... the dynamic between him and Hackman also really works well on the screen ... lots of tension and animosity ... Kristofferson's character's lack of respect for authority figures and Hackman's character's attempts to force his authority onto Kristofferson ...

an underrated movie in general and certainly an underrated one in both Kristofferson's and Hackman's career imho :)

take care,
cormac

I agree on Cisco Pike.
You forgot to mention Viva one of Andy Warhol's superstars and the mother of Gabby Hoffman was featured in that movie.
