Evergreen One of the Most Beautiful Songs Ever

Without a doubt, this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. If this song doesn't give you chills and put a lump in your throat, then you don't have a pulse!

Agreed. Matter of fact, I was just going through some sites, looking for Barbra on her Oscar night and found one with her and Neil Diamond;

http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=barbra+streisand+songs&FORM=BIFD#focal=493d89ad5a35f80162a386a1659ecc7a&furl=http%3A%2F%2Fia.media-imdb.com%2Fimages%2FM%2FMV5BMTMzNjE0MjI3Ml5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwMDAwNTU2._V1._SX263_SY400_.jpg

I'm gonna use it as part of my book project. A chapter on songwriters. Barbra will be mentioned, fear not! Hope that link shows up okay.
If you can't click on it, just highlight the link, key Ctrl C and then paste it into your url box with Ctrl V and it should show up. Fingers crossed.

Have a great long weekend! I LOVE that phrase. LONG WEEKEND!!!!

It's a truly lovely song, and just about the best thing about the movie.

Oh Evergreen is my favorite Barbra Streisand song. Guilty is another one.

The song is just sublime, indeed one of the most beautiful ever, and it does give me chills every time I listen to it! Barbra is a genius!

It is beautiful. I admit I got heartily sick of it back in the day when it got way too much airplay, but it's all coming back to me as I sit here and watch the movie on Ovation.

I haven't seen it since ... well, since 1976, I guess. They say the sense memory of smell is the strongest one there is, but I can't believe hearing isn't just as strong. Music can evoke such strong memories and feelings it's a bit scary.

I'd forgotten how much I love this whole album. Back then, I had a big crush on Kris Kristofferson and a huge girl crush on Barbra Streisand (and a little one on Rita Coolidge). As soon as I heard the first strains of "Watch Closely Now" it all came flooding back, and "Everything" gave me a little shiver. I used to play the LP and belt that song out at the top of my lungs (along with countless other soundtrack albums). I wonder my mother didn't kick me out of the house.

Couldn't agree more.

It's always been one of my favorites.

The best thing in this movie is that song.

The music - particularly the melody - is remarkable, and Streisand wrote it! According to Wikipedia, she's only written one other song? My gawd, with such talent, why didn't she write more often?

Maybe it was beginner's luck or something and she wasn't able to follow it up with the same quality, or maybe she lost interest in music as she decided to focus on becoming a film director. I would love to know.
