Squirm Theme Song: "A Million Ways to Love You"

This song is uncredited in the film - with the exception of lyrics by Hal Hackady. I am anxious to know the name of the female vocalist, as I was most impressed by her performance.

Robert Prince is credited with writing music for the film. Whether he also composed the song or not, is confusing, because a prior thread in this forum - for the song and score of squirm - bears a comment by the Director (Mr Jeff Lieberman) that the song had already been recorded prior to the film.

Any clarification on this history would be helpful, but I would be very pleased to know the name of the singer. Since IMDB has somehow sourced the title of the song-on YouTube, a contributor has called it "Shadows: Theme from Squirm"-then there is hope after all !! :)

I look forward to any subsequent interest in this topic.

Best regards,

Derek (Sydney, Australia).

I have found this to be a very interesting subject.

I pointed out on another thread a few years ago, that I don't believe that this song, "Shadows"- a.k.a.-"A Million Ways...", was as random as some people think. My reasoning for this is that there are some parts of the instrumental score by Robert Prince that actually play the song's tune on various scenes of the movie. So there IS a definitive connection with this end-credits song, and the actual movie score.

I guess the mystery continues about this!

I have also been trying to identify one of the songs playing on the radio at the Saunder's house near the beginning of the movie. In one scene its the actual Shadows/A Million Ways song. In another scene, there's a pop-sounding song that is heard. I have been trying to find this song with no luck at all.

Thank you for your interest.

Jeff Lieberman (Squirm Director) has already indicated that the song was recorded prior to its use in his film.

There are no credits - other than for a lyricist - Hal Hackady. IMDB has credited the music to Robert Prince and derived the title I have used.

If the song was not composed specifically for the film, then it ought to have a credit in another source. Finding this other source seems almost impossible. One would need access to documentation created at the time of the making of the film - now nearly 40 years ago.

Whether Robert Prince composed the song or not. He undoubtedly makes reference to it in the score for Squirm. I think the score and the song work very well, and I am hoping a record company may do a limited collectors edition 40th Anniversary soundtrack for the film.

Kind regards,
Derek (Sydney Australia).

It's a notable closing song for the mid-70s. I see I'm not the only one who noticed.

Here it is for anyone interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAnBpDx5eVo
