Another zeppelin movie

Is there any movies out there about the band led zeppelin? I'd like to know, because the band is awesome, and they are knowed as one of the best bands ever but it seems like no one ever talks about them anymore.

Other than The Song Remains the Same, the only other Led Zeppelin concert film is the DVD released last year, titled simply "Led Zeppelin DVD." The DVD is a two-disc set: disc one shows the band in their early days playing at Royal Albert Hall in 1970; disc two is various footage from later concerts showcasing their live performances as their career progressed right up until the very end.

The DVD performances are far superior to their playing on TSRTS (they weren't at their best on that particular night.) The only real disadvantage that the DVD has in comparison is that it doesn't include a performance of "No Quarter." Otherwise, it's nothing short of incredible.

Here's what's on the DVD:

Disc 1:
-Live at Royal Albert Hall (1970):
(We're Gonna Groove; I Can't Quit You Baby; Dazed and Confused; White Summer; What is and What Should Never Be; How Many More Times; Moby Dick; Whole Lotta Love; Communication Breakdown; C'mon Everybody; Something Else; Bring it on Home)
-"Communication Breakdown" promo (1969)
-Danmarks Radio (1969)
-Supershow (1969)
-Tous en Scene (1969)

Disc 2:
-"The Immigrant Song" (1972)
-Madison Square Garden (1973):
(Black Dog; Misty Mountain Hop; Since I've Been Loving You; The Ocean)
-Earl's Court (1975):
(Going to California; That's the Way; Bron Yr Aur Stomp; In My Time of Dying; Trampled Underfoot; Stairway to Heaven)
-Knebworth (1979):
(Rock and Roll; Nobody's Fault But Mine; Sick Again; Achilles Last Stand; In the Evening; Kashmir; Whole Lotta Love)
-NYC Press Conference (1970)
-Down Under (1972)
-The Old Grey Whistle Test (1975)
-Promo: "Over the Hills and Far Away" (1990)
-Promo: "Travelling Riverside Blues" (1990)

Great stuff here.

I don't miss No Quarter as much as I miss Heartbreaker, The Song Remains the Same and the Rain Song (The latter two were masterfully performed at Knebworth on Aug. 4 yet left off the DVD)

It's funny you should mention that: I was wondering if it would be a cool idea to do a movie version of "Hammer of the Gods", the book about the group. Granted, I need to actually read the book first. Some casting ideas would include Orlando Bloom as Robert Plant, Topher Grace as Jimmy Page, possibly Robbie Coltrane as Peter Grant, Michael Fishman (of TV's "Roseanne" fame) as John Bonham, and an unknown actor (British or American) to play John Paul Jones

NO, NO, NO! What are you thinking casting Orlando Bloom as ROBERT PLANT?...what the *beep* Thats like Colin Farrel as Alexander...do you really see Orlando Bloom with long curly golden locks? NO, NO, NO. About the other people, i can't help but laugh...that's insane...

reply

ORLANDO BLOOM!!!!! OMG that would be a horrible choice, simply because he can't act, nor sing. He did good in LOTR, but he chould not be allowed near a zeppelin script, same with Topher Grace. If there ever was a Zeppelin bio-pic, it would have to be done with real fans of the music, and would need actors that can actuallly play the instruments. NOT that they should play them, but so that they already have experience with the music.

poor JPJ he's a very talented musician but compared to page he just doesnt shine

I'm not sure that no one is talking about them any more. I think they still have a huge following. The DVD set mentioned by FrankiePuke is essential for any Zeppelin fan. The first time I saw Immigrant Song I nearly barred up. It is AWESOME!!

Yeah, you gotta feel sorry for bass players. No matter how good they are, sometimes they just seem to be making up the numbers...
