Gene Wilder 1933-2016

He lived a long, full life and will always be remembered. So many movies (good and bad) to choose from, but Silver Streak (in spite of its few flaws) will always be my favorite Gene Wilder performance, followed closely by Blazing Saddles.

Thanks Gene, just for being YOU. The world will not be the same...

Sadly, most of the cast is gone. Of the main actors, only Ned Beatty and Fred Willard are still alive.

reply

Isn't Clifton James still alive? He was one of the main actors.

reply

I'm glad Ned Beatty is still with us, he's very good in this.

Perfect!

I agree, loved Silver Streak the most, followed by Willy Wonka. My favorite scene is with Clifton James when he takes the gun away from him calling him a stupid ignorant son of a bitch dumb bastard. LMAO

R.I.P. Gene Wilder. So great in Silver Streak and everything else he was in.

A sad day indeed; after hearing the news I had to watch Silver Streak again; it is my favourite Gene Wilder film and definitely underrated.

This has always been a favorite of mine. Then the director and the star pass away in the same month!

reply

My favorite Gene Wilder film. One of the best train movies as well.

reply

I totally agree! Watching it now, smiling and crying...

It's not my favorite Gene Wilder performance or film, both would be Young Frankenstein, but Silver Streak is the most rewatchable of his films. He was a uniquely gifted actor.
