Pryor appears at the 1 hour mark

Is this a mistake? Should he have been introduced earlier into the plot?

"Worthington, we're being attacked by giant bats!"

reply

No, it works better that he shows up in the second act.

reply

Yep.

Made an already great movie even better (to say the least).

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

I agree with the others here. Just as the film maxes out at about the one hour mark, Pryor comes in and the film really takes off.

I'll tell that to the judge!!

reply

When Pryor's role begins, the entire movie is transformed: his entrance makes a perfect start to "Act 2".

By the way, his role was originally supposed to be much shorter, but the chemistry between him and Wilder made everybody want additional scenes between them. Pryor's original last line was, "Take it easy, killer - don't get yourself killed." The scenes beginning with him returning the wallet were not in the original script, but added later.

Yeah, I've heard that.

Excellent choice. It was so great to see him reappear towards the very end of the film.

At that point, they didn't yet know Wilder and Pryor would mix so well.

he is very funny, but it would have probably been difficult to fit him in earlier in the story.

reply

I like the way it is because it makes it one of those movies that feels like a couple different movies, but organically.
