Should Have Been in Black and White.....

I originally seen Silent Movie in the theater in 76 when I was 12 and even then I thought it should have been in B&W.

I have watched it in B&W on my TV by turning off the color and it does play so much better in B&W. (I recommend you try this)

I love B&W movies, especially when they choose to make them in B&W instead of color like Paper Moon, Raging Bull, Last Picture Show, Schindler's List, Clerks, Ed Wood ect, ect.

Silent Movie would have been great in B&W.

I disagree. And it's etc, etc.

I agree, b/w might have been cool.

Maybe they should offer it on future DVD/Blu-Rays

I feel it should also have been presented in 16x9 to stay more authentic to the silent film era. However, the entire plot is Mel Funn doing a modern silent so perhaps the film he intended to make would have been done the same. Sort of like a movie within a movie.

The silent movie era would have been 4x3, not 16x9.

You're right. I didn't notice my error.

I disagree with OP. I have seen comments here to the effect that "I don't like silent movies". Very likely there are people who didn't watch Silent Movie for that reason. There are many people who say "I hate B&W movies, they're creepy". Both attitudes are dumb but they exist. If Brooks had made a B&W silent movie, he would have really diminished the size of his potential audience. Remember "Ars gratia pecunia".

Tell that to "Young Frankenstein" and then get back to me.

Young Frankenstein was not a silent movie.

reply

It is to me. I watch it with no sound on.
