Can't see why you're all impressed...

I suppose it depends on whether you like Roger Moore or not, but that aside, did anyone notice how bad the timing and editing was, and how badly done the reef scene was (the bit where the life raft gets thrown up on the reef)? First there is a calm sea, and then suddenly, they clip in scenes of storms, and shores from various locations...

Continuity was also very bad. One that sticks in my mind is near the end of the movie, and the german baddie jumps off the dreadnought, and swims to shore. When he jumps off the ship it's night, but as he comes up on shore, it's day. Like, the director didn't think we'd notice that...

The only thing I liked about this moving was the portrayal of the dreadnought, Bluecher, and the crew. Thought this was done quite well, and also the wheels in the desert. The rest was hillariously bad.

hmmmm,...
I wonder if you saw the censored version.

Me thinks he saw the butchered version which is choppy and stupid. The proper version is much better .

If only they'd release a decent dvd version of this film....oh well.

Its a kind of fun movie to see if your not watching it on a date. I hated the fact that the German dude would never die, the movie got especially silly towards the ned, kind of Monty Python Black Knightish where the guy never dies or runs away. There is a lot worse things to watch and any Moore or Marvin fan could do a lot worse.

MGM HD Channel is playing the expanded version this month. I'm pretty sure it is the original running time.

Never mind, some of us like it, so we're glad it was made.

The movie poster boasts how it took two years to make this. And, I wonder: HOW could it have taken two years? Come on.

Plus, the poster actually declares: "The Greatest African Adventure Ever Filmed." Better than "Lawrence of Arabia," right? Sure. Why not?
