Moore was 47 and Marvin 50

The movie had Moore as the much younger Sebastian who became Marvin's son in law, but there was only 3 years difference between them. I love the movie, but this is funny.

Not having read the book, the most remarkable part is that they're only three years apart in age but Lee Marvin looks much older!

Also fighting in WW2 in the Pacific and getting shot in the ass at the Battle of Saipan and severing his sciatic nerve and experiencing constant discomfort from it might have had something to do with his aged look.
