Blu-ray review for 'Shout at the Devil'

The lack of special features is understandable, but disappointing. Moore might not necessarily want to talk about getting into a fistfight with Marvin, but couldn't they have at least roped a historian into doing a commentary track that separates historical fact from fiction.

The film has never looked better on home video. (And who better to handle this release than "Shout! Factory"?) The consistently amusing movie has its ups and downs, but it works best as a reminder of the sort of adventure film they don’t make anymore.

The Blu-ray appears to be region free (it plays on my region B player), the DVD is region 1. This is, for the first time on home video, the full 150 minute UK release version rather than the cut 120 minute US release print which has been used on previous DVD releases.

Thanks for the info.I`ll take a chance and see if it works on my UK P3 as been waiting ages for this.Great to finally get the 150m print but I wonder if the 167m version still exists in the vaults somewhere?

Good news Khazi, the Blu-ray will work on your PS3. Just tried mine and it's fine! As for the 167min version, don't hold your breath, this is like Christmas early for me though as I've been waiting for a decent release for ages.

Roger Moore and Barbara Parkins could have done commentary. Barbara did the commentary on the Valley of the Dolls DVD and did a very good job.

Yes,works fine on my UK PS3, despite saying Region A, and finally the complete film in the correct aspect ratio.Germans speak English in this version but this is much better than the re-dubbed German dialogue on some prints which don`t have subtitles!Contains all the scenes usually missing including sequences in Malta,Union Jack raising,Moore with his first girlfriend and Barbara Perkins commenting on the size of Moore`s diddler!Picture is slightly speckly in places but still great clarity despite the annoying habit of the Director to shoot scenes of Perkins in soft focus:someone of immense beauty and you can`t bloody see her properly!

reply

It is PARKINS not Perkins.

Quite correct but calm yourself.
