Scene from the movie

Can anyone please tell me what is going on in this scene here?

It's from the opening scene where the Roman Emperor Diocletian is hosting a party culminating in the almost vampiric slaughter of a christian (unseen in this clip). His favourite soldier and Captain of the Royal Guard, Sebastiane, then objects to this dreadful act and is summararily dispatched to exile (the rest of the film).

This sequence is largely populated by friends of the director, including the anachronistic appearence of Jordan as Mammea Morgana, as party guests. His Dancing Ledge journals give a good account of the making of this film.

Oh ok. And who was the gold guy laying on the floor with blood all over him?

reply

I'm not sure of the character's name - if he has one - but he was one of the Emperor's favoured few suddendly finding himself terminally out of favour because of his Christian faith.

The clip on You Tube is somewhat 'censorsed' including the almost vampiric killing of the 'golden man' by a guard and the subsequent bawdy dancing by Lindsay Kemp and troupe (not connected to the slaughter, though).

"Vampiric" killing? I'm sorry, I never seen this movie, lol.

reply

The victim is dispatched through a rather unlikely bite to the neck.

reply

Ohh. And this was during the party scene?
