Suppose Sylvester Stallone had invested all his energy in being a boxer instead of an actor.

Would he have been a force in the heavyweight division?

reply

Who knows, but he would probably be better looking than he is today.

He had no chance as a boxer, particularly as a heavyweight. Stallone is maybe 5'7" in shoes and probably weighed 185 at his highest. So the heavyweight division is out. Light Heaveyweight perhaps.

But his weight class isn't the problem. One of the themes of Rocky is how awkward and unpolished Rocky is compared to Apollo, but Stallone wasn't acting. He has no natural athleticism whatsoever.

Watch the scene in Rocky III when Apollo is racing Stallone on the beach. Stallone is cranking his legs with ever fiber of his being while Weathers is in cruise control.

yeah, Stallone is very strong and can probably take a punch well in real life, but boxing is mostly about skill and quickness, since opponents are well matched in weight class. I wouldn't say he has no athleticism, but he's not nearly fast enough.
